What are executive functions?

Executive functions are the cognitive brain skills that help us get things done. They develop over time from early childhood through young adulthood, around age 25 when they are fully formed. They are most simply described as the ability to:

  • manage time and attention

  • set goals

  • plan and organize

  • switch focus

  • adjust and refocus

  • attend to details

  • develop timelines

  • complete tasks efficiently

  • manage stress and anxiety

  • collaborate effectively

  • maintain clutter- free space

  • control and regulate behavior

By strengthening executive functions, your child will improve performance in school and at home. We will get to the bottom of their lack of motivation and procrastination and show them how to be advocates for their own education. Executive functioning skills are essential for success!
